Magogoni Primary School
Magogoni Village, located in the Kiwangwa Ward of the Bagamoyo District in the Coastal Region of Tanzania, has a population of approximately 860 residents, which includes 410 children. Prior to the creation of the Magogoni Primary School, children in the village had to walk 8km each way to the closest school.
When we were introduced to Magogoni Village they had already reserved land for the school, completed all the government paperwork, raised funds, and started making the blocks. We were impressed with their determination and work and offered to help! Asante Sana For Education completed two classrooms, an office, a teachers' house and a latrine. The construction was completed in June 2013 and classes began July 15, 2013. In 2014, Room to Read, a leading non-profit focused on girls' education and children's literacy , added a library and two more classrooms to the school.
